The Cliff Lodge and Spa receives mixed reviews, highlighting its stunning location and ski-in/ski-out access, particularly for those visiting Snowbird. However, recent guests have reported issues with inconsistent service, outdated facilities, and significant operational problems, including pool closures, shuttle delays, and problems with late checkouts. The spa is a notable highlight among guests.

An honest Cliff Lodge review from a family that has been coming here for over 25 years. We have a time share here. This has always been a family affair where the cousins meet and have a great time while the adults chat. You know, happy family vibes but this wasn’t the case this time. Firstly, the pool was closed. We were not made aware before checking in. The person at reception just casually dropped that in when handing us the keys. Our dates had been chosen a year in advance. Which means we could have changed our dates had that been communicated to us properly. We had 15 kids aged 1-12 with no access to the usually amazing pool. The provided solution: we could use the pool at the Inn with a shuttle running there for up to 6 people. We had 15 kids not including adults so we decided to make the 15 minute walk over. The pool is about 1/5 the size of the cliff lodge pool. It was dirty and filled with bugs. Worst of all it was not accessible at all. So we had to do multiple stairs with strollers and all the kid things. If you needed wheelchair accessibility forget about it. We made do for the kids and tried to keep their spirits up. Now, let’s talk about the adult spa access that is part of our time share. We are always torn between making a booking or showing up with the white cards we’re given. We get told something different every time. We turn up. A small group of 4 and get a bunch of attitude from the young man at the counter. Making us feel terrible for not booking even though we called multiple times to book with no one answering the phone. He reluctantly lets us in but customer service is in the toilet. We get up there and the pool is packed. No where to sit and barely any room in the pool because once again the other pool is closed. This back and forth continues for the rest of the family across the 4 days we’re here. We try to alternate when we go to the spa because we’re not going to turn up in a massive group and we also have kids to watch. Each time a group goes (no more than 4) we get attitude. Except for one lovely guy. He’s an exception. Next, let’s talk about the front reception and the bookings section for Cliff Club members. No one wants to take any responsibility for everything that’s going down. They just keep saying it’s not their problem and to talk to the other. We admit defeat cos they just do not care. But then comes the day to checkout and well that’s what led to this review because we’re done. When we book some extra rooms to go along with our usual time share slot, we check out at 11am. But this time, considering the run around we got, we decided to call in the morning to request a late checkout of noon. Just an extra hour. Which they’ve offered before with no issue. Instead, the front desk attendant stated that we actually needed to vacate our rooms by 10am and it’s strict. We were then put on hold and then told that the middle room of the 3 could have a noon checkout, but the other two were still a hard 10am checkout. So instead of going for a nice breakfast, we rush to pack up everything and get us all into the middle room by 10am. Guess what? And then at 10am, the cleaners walk through the door of the middle room (the one that was supposedly extended to noon). They apologise and leave but clearly the front desk did not pass on that message. No blame on the cleaners, they’re doing their job. So now as I sit in the atrium writing this review, we feel absolutely deflated. Our kids and the adults included have had a terrible time and frankly none of us want to return to somewhere that holds so many memories. All this to say, work out your customer service and the connection between the hotel and the time share departments. No one took responsibility nor did they want to help in any way. We were merely an inconvenience that was brushed off constantly. Keep that in mind when visiting the lodge.

Great hotel and conference center! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The room also included a single-cup Keurig with coffee provided by the hotel. We stayed here for both a conference and a ski vacation, and the location was perfect for both. Overall, it was a very convenient and enjoyable place to stay.

BE AWARE! Stolen Skis - and no on on staff at The Cliff Lodge givesa darn. My skis were stollen from the resort, from the locker room and these morons could give two hoots. I walked into the security office. A young lady sat there, lounged back in her chair, on her cdll phone texting or something. After a minute or two of ignoring me I spoke up. She, in a frustrating tone, asked me what I needed. I explained that I put my skis in my locker the night before. When I came down in the morning they were gone. She acted like no other person, ever, has had this happen. So, 500 rooms, families, tons of people and skis and no one has ever lost or had their skis stolen? They were supposedly the lost and found. She never looked in any back room. In fact, no one did. It is insane. The ski shop sent me to the bell desk. The bell desk sent me to security. Security sent me to the bell desk. These people were useless and honestly seemed like they could care less that my $1,000 skis were missing. Lock up your skis if you go here. Although, personally, I recommend you do not stay here.

I am a huge fan of the Cliff Spa. I’ve had some great experiences there! I love the rooftop pool. In the winter, it’s so fun to sit in the hot tub and watch the skiers go down. Me and my friend group came up here to celebrate a belated Xmas here and it was so good. I also love the massages and the yoga class. They’ve done a really good job making this place beautiful. Would totally recommend going and am definitely going to be back!

In the wise words of another internet commentator "Snowbird is litty mctitties". The Cliff Lodge is an excellent place to stay during any season. I am partial to the fall colors and Oktoberfest time. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms had beautiful views. You will not regret staying here for a spa get away or participating in the local activities. Sit back, sip your favorite drink, and enjoy the colors around you.

We went for the Spa. Fairly reasonably priced given the facility and views. Nice hot tub, heated swimming pool with direct views to snowbird mountains, steam room, sauna. The food at the L2 level bar was great, we had nachos (with tuna and edamame) and the crab rangoon, taste great.

It depends on what you're looking for, but having stayed many times over the years, the experience has gone downhill and we likely won't be back. We have enjoyed the Cliff for its the proximity to Alta and the kid-friendly amenities. This trip, you had to plan to be at the outdoor shuttle stop 20-30 min early then jockey with dozens of guests to get a spot on the standing-room only shuttles that were often late. It isn't uncommon to take an hour to get back from Alta to the hotel at the end of the day given shuttle frequency and capacity. To be fair, the shuttle drivers are amazing and did their best to help everyone out, they just don't plan for enough space at peak times. Management suggested we go at a less busy time...they don't care and/or are clueless. The icing on the cake is that because it takes so long to get back to the hotel on their shuttle, plan for your kids to miss the 3-5pm hot chocolate service that repeatedly runs out at 4pm. If on the other hand, you are planning to ski/board at Snowbird or are fine with unreliable hotel amenities, then it is an ok choice.

Never seen anyone be such a total jerk as I did tonight with clearing out the outside hot tub. He came up and just started yelling at people to get out of the hot tub at 10pm. He basically instigated fights with people in every one of the three hot tubs. Appalling behavior.
