Solitude Mountain Resort offers a more relaxed and less crowded ski experience compared to larger Utah resorts, known for its diverse terrain and stunning mountain views. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, efficient operations, and convenient access from Salt Lake City, while also noting potential lift line challenges during peak times.
The staff at Solitude are amazing! I had a situation which required a refund and Michele in customer service/sales did an awesome job communicating with me about the circumstances. She was kind, understanding and professional. She went above and beyond to help me out. My son had a great experience with his lesson. His instructor was kind and light hearted with all the kids. I highly recommend their lesson program. I am very grateful for Michele!
We went today to watch the Nordic Lights not really knowing what the event entailed. We just wanted to get out and about. Went with a 3 year old toddler and a 9 month old baby. We didn’t realize it entailed hiking or skiing. We were super under prepared in many ways. We had gotten a shuttle to go to the top of the resort and had to wait for the driver to come back. Staff was super friendly and allowed us to join the fire pits and get some hot chocolate while we waited. Although we did not purchase tickets or rent equipment they were super friendly and accommodating and made us feel super welcomed. 10/10 for staff!
This is a great resort for families. They also have some very good terrain, everything from easy green and blue runs to black and double black. Less crowded than most resorts with a backcountry feel that you don't get any place else. If you want it they've got it.
What a gem. They have great amenities and housing options at the base/village area here. Fun places to shop; delicious places to eat; several hot tubs where you can relax. They don't have very much beginner terrain here, but it's a great place for intermediate and advanced skiers. If you have some beginners in your group then you should consider buying passes at Brighton instead. Speaking of Brighton... Definitely, check conditions and trail openings before you go, and if the Sol-Bright trails are open, then consider buying passes that let you ski both Brighton and Solitude. So much fun to crisscross both mountains!
Attended The first annual Fire and Ice festival. Family friendly. Beautiful views.
Our first time visiting and skiing Solitude but we really enjoyed it and my sons had an awesome time! Really great runs and lots of them, I believe 64 total runs, plus as a bonus you can connect to Brighton Ski Resort and ski over, as long as you have a valid lift pass of course. We will be back tomorrow for more!
As of 2025 They are doing a decent job with the bike park. Need more still, but have some jumps bigger than anything at Deer Valley and also some pretty sick drops bigger than anything at any resort in Utah. Need better trail maintenance and a few more lines. Food was reasonably priced and good. Right now it’s worth a trip or two.. and you can easily spend half a day here and hit pretty much everything.
??What would you say about a place like this????????? ??TRUTH: ???I Came on a weird day??? ??Pictures say more than my words.?? I gave half good and half bad In real life you can't please everyone but Can enjoy what is available. If it's not available its kind of messed up. ??the l pizza was dry like it's been sitting for 3 hours. ??Instead of offering as a discount it should have been made all over again. ?? The pizza needed to be thrown in the trash. ?? Instead of leaving the ice cream bucket still sitting in the freezer for the rest of the day even though it is empty it should have been thrown away and replaced with something fresh ?? you can have food poisoning for how long the pizza has been out. ??It's not the employees fault whoever trained her or whoever her boss is it is their fault ??It kind of makes a person not want to come back I am visiting from Ohio. ?? I don't feel welcome here in Utah. ??If I did come back to this place it'll just be because of boredom. ??I'm here spending time with my daughter I wanted us both to see something different and new. ??The only thing I felt down to Earth was the music inside the Pizza Shop,The ? music ? had a lot of culture and was not based on 1 race. Thank you for the reggae and r&b. ?Relaxing a chill when the rest of the day felt weird ???
Amazing mountain. Diverse terrain and gorgeous views. Can't wait to hit it with fresh snow. The bowl runs you can lap from the summit express are fantastic and the bowl on the other side of the list, where there is no list after till the end, black bess/honeycomb etc is so gorgeous how you can go back there, not see a lift nor people and go chill out for a very very long run. To get back to the summit though if you take these runs take 3 lifts though....
Solitude Mountain Resort is hands down one of my favorite places to ski. Located in Big Cottonwood Canyon, it offers the perfect balance of amazing terrain, stunning views, and a more relaxed, uncrowded vibe compared to some of the other Utah resorts. From the moment I started driving up the canyon, the views are breathtaking. The winding road that leads up to the resort is surrounded by towering peaks and snowy landscapes, making the journey just as memorable as the destination. When you get to Solitude, you’ll be impressed by the mountain’s vastness. There are over 1,200 acres of skiable terrain, with runs that suit every level, from beginner to expert. I personally loved the Honeycomb Canyon area—it offers some of the best off-piste and expert terrain I’ve experienced, with steep runs and untouched powder that just makes it so much fun. The lift system is efficient, and while you might have to take a few lifts to get to the more challenging runs, the experience is worth it. One of the best things about Solitude is how uncrowded it feels, especially compared to the busier resorts. It’s not a party destination, which I appreciate because it gives you a more laid-back experience. You get to enjoy the mountain at your own pace, whether you’re carving down the slopes or just taking in the views from the top. The village at Solitude is cozy, with all the amenities you need: places to eat, shop, and relax after a long day on the slopes. The lodge and accommodations are fantastic, and if you’re lucky enough to ski in and out of your condo, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the mountain experience. While there’s not as much nightlife or après-ski action as you might find at other resorts, that’s part of the charm for me. It’s all about the skiing here, and I love that. Solitude is perfect for those who want to focus on skiing and enjoy a peaceful retreat, without the crowds or the hustle of bigger resorts. If you’re heading up to Solitude Mountain Resort, definitely take the time to enjoy the drive up the canyon. The views of the towering mountains and snow-covered scenery are worth the trip alone, and they set the tone for the incredible experience waiting at the resort. Highly recommended!
