Guests praise the beautiful historic architecture and prime location in downtown Ogden, complimenting the friendly service and breakfast. However, major concerns include severe parking challenges, thin walls from street noise, and significant maintenance issues in the rooms such as dirty carpets, smoke odors, and dangerous elevators.
Staying at the Hampton Inn in historic downtown Ogden was an absolute pleasure. This beautiful historic building is truly a must-see — full of character, charm, and perfectly situated in the heart of downtown. Even better, it’s conveniently connected to the convention center, which made everything seamless and stress-free. A special thank you to Sharon at the front desk — she was absolutely amazing. Warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful from the moment I arrived. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and that kind of service makes all the difference. Highly recommend this location whether you’re visiting for business, an event, or just exploring Ogden. I’ll definitely be back. The location is great because it’s a walking distance to restaurants etc. The room is kind of old and has a smell but this is a very old hotel so we kind of understand that. Breakfast is good and amazing servers. The lobby is very nice though .
Parking was non-existent. We made three laps around the building before parking in the “Hampton guest parking only,” so we could get checked in, only later to find out that we couldn’t park there. We made our way to the front of the building because that’s the only entrance and because while the app allowed us to checkin online, it did not issue a digital key. After about a ten minute wait behind other guests checking in, we got checked in and that’s when we were told we had to go move our car to an other guest parking area that required a special pass key. After another brisk walk to move our car, we came back to the front desk and we returned the parking pass they gave us because if we did return it before check out there would be a $50.00 fee. We got assigned a room at the front of the building on the 2nd floor and the street traffic at 10:15 p.m., while I’m writing this review, is deafeningly loud. Room was clean, front desk gal was friendly, but between the noise and parking I’d pass for another location that is more user friendly.
The service was excellent and the building is very cool (older building, having been remodeled). The room was clean and neat. However, he bed was the worst. My wife and I both slept terribly. The bed was very hard with what felt like a worn out pillow top. It wasn't even what I would describe as firm, just either very cheap or worn to the point it's hard. Periodically through the night, there was a strong odor of cigarette smoke that came through the vents (when the heat would kick on). I have no idea where that came from. The location is great, but parking (which is due to the location) is terrible. There aren't many options unless you either pay or join the Hilton club. Since the purpose is to sleep there over everything else, I wouldn't recommend it unless you like hard mattresses.
There is NO hot tub, false advertising. Carpet feels dirty and old but the beds were nice and everything else seemed clean. Nice location if you want to be right downtown, it is a bit loud.
I would never recommend this place. The historical building is beautiful and that is the only positive thing I will say. Got in around 530pm friday and couldn't even get close to the hotel due to the amount of traffic for close by activities. This hotel has approximately 20 spots of parking specifically for the hotel, if you don't get a spot you pay for parking. We went and ate and came back around 7pm. First room we got checked into...we walk in and the toilet is open full of pee, the bed was not clean or made and food trash everywhere. Come to find out we were the 2nd person they put into that dirty room. New room was better but had black curly hairs all over in the bathroom/shower and smelled very musty. Left for a meeting and came back at about 930pm and tried to shower...no shower curtain. Call downstairs and she tells me we're the 2nd person with that complaint. The front desk lady was very nonchalant about these issues. At 215am we got woken up to an alarm sounding throughout the whole hotel. The pillows seem old and lumpy, very uncomfortable. And apparently there is no manager present on weekends for you to discuss above mentioned issues with. Its also very noisy from street traffic. Never again!
I will first say the staff I interacted with were all polite and helpful. This is a 1.5 star hotel at best. There are many features of the building that needs a renovation. After getting to my room I find one of the soup dispensers half ripped off the wall and it took me asking twice for my shower soap dispenser to be refilled, which meant two nights without soap. The hot breakfast was pretty terrible to the point I started going out to local restaurants for a quick breakfast. I hope management wakes up and makes many necessary changes. I will not stay at this location again.
This location is terrible because of the parking situation. You have to park in a parking garage that is a full block and a half from the hotel for which they charge you an additional $10 that they did not previously mention anywhere. You can pull up in front of the hotel on the street to drop off your luggage before you park in the garage but traffic is whizzing by which makes that dangerous. Also, the room they gave us only had a view of a brick wall. We had a nice room and it was an otherwise good location but I would not stay here again.
It was such a great experience to stay in a hotel built in 1910. The original marble and ceilings were gorgeous. This building has history. We loved every minute we stayed there. The parking is around the corner in a parking garage, but we didn't mind. It's worth every historical step.
