The Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Downtown/The Gateway offers a convenient and relatively affordable stay in downtown Salt Lake City, with easy access to the Delta Center and other attractions. While generally clean and comfortable, recent reviews highlight some recurring issues including noise levels, inconsistent dryer performance, and outdated amenities like television technology. Overall, it's a solid choice for travelers prioritizing location and free breakfast.
Resort was very clean, security was great, pool was a wonderful temperature, room was more than I thought it would be, shower was spacious, breakfast had plenty of options. The toilet didn't flush very well. Other than that, the room was quiet and there were no complaints!
My stay was good overall, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. However, I was disappointed that complimentary coffee was not available in the lobby throughout the day. Additionally, the dryer in the guest laundry area did not fully dry my clothes, even after a complete cycle, and some items were still wet. Addressing these issues would improve the overall guest experience.
Stayed for two nights and had a pleasant stay. Room was great: clean, spacious, and comfortable. The AC unit was a little loud, but that would be the only complaint; could have just been my room, I didn't mention it to the staff. The included breakfast was good and location was great. Walkable distance to shopping and restaurants.
We had a great experience at the Hyatt place downtown Salt Lake. Great location. We came to see a Jazz vs Bucks basketball game for my grandsons 12th birthday, the hotel is right across from the delta center. Marcel went above and beyond, decorated the room for my grandsons bday, got his favorite snacks, gave him a card, even got him a bucks hat with his name on it. Room had great view, was very clean. The staff was great. Great place to stay, very reasonable prices. The hotel was right next to the Bucks hotel, so we able to get some pics and autographs. Went to the #hogglezoo. Great trip.
Not the best, but not the worst. Parking is probably the toughest part… it’s a tiny lot across from Delta Center and even though there’s an overflow lot, you’re still going battle for a parking spot on busy nights. The rooms were fine, beds are pretty hard and not the softest plus the water is either scalding or frigid- no in between. However, the service is the saving grace. The front desk is extremely helpful with navigating the parking situation and addressing any concerns you may have. Their breakfast is also pretty good, too- the staff is quick to replenish anything that needs a refill and there are good options too. I would definitely stay here again
THE GOOD - The location is within a 10-minute walk of the Salt Palace. - Free breakfast that rotates every day. There are several different options for those with different preferences. What I had was pretty decent (breakfast burritos, waffles, eggs, sausage, oranges, etc.). - The water temperature and pressure were fantastic! - Staff was friendly. THE BAD - The window has a single-panel curtain, the kind that raises and lowers on a chain. It doesn't quite close the gap at the bottom, and light bleeds through on the side. I had to roll up towels and stuff the gap. There was also a slight breeze that came in at the spot (Feb. 2026). Adding traditional blackout curtains would fix the light issue. - The bed is pretty firm. If there is a pillowtop on the mattress, it has long lost its fluff. Sometimes you can sit on a bed and it feels soft, but when you lie down, it doesn't give as much. This bed didn't have that. It didn't affect how much sleep I got, but perhaps how comfortably I slept. - Street noise. The rail was right under my window, and with the Delta Center next door, there was quite the ruckus, especially between 9 and 11 pm. There were two events going on out of the three nights I stayed. I have long conditioned myself to sleep with a sound machine playing (phone app) and keep earplugs in my pocket.
Had to stay in Salt Lake for a conference. This is your typical run-of the mill Hyatt Place. Rooms were standard, albeit a bit dated. Clean rooms and bathrooms, housekeeping did a great job. The dollar price was definitely not worth the room, but booking with points brought back appropriate value. The hotel is right across from Delta Center which is a huge plus for anyone attending a game. Close to other main downtown attractions. Of note, you are right next to the tram so do not be surprised by waking up to loud horns. Also, breakfast is free as is par for the course at Hyatt Places, it was nothing special but did the job. Staff were kind.
We arrived here at 11pm after coming straight from the airport. Exhausted, looking to just rest. I stay at Hyatts frequently and always have a pleasant experience. I am 20, I call prior to checking in to confirm the age requirement. Every booking website states the age requirement for check in to this hotel is "18 years old". The girl working at the front desk immediately states I cannot check in because I am under the age of 21.. ? I state that I booked online and confirmed I could check in straight from the property. I mention that every booking website has their check in age of 18. She goes to check with the manager and comes back out to say that now I am able to check in, after causing a stressful situation. I totally understand properties having a check in age of 21, and I avoid those hotels to avoid problems. If you are going to advertise your hotel as being 18 for check in, you need to stand by that. And if thats a problem, for god's sake change the age limits online or at least tell customers when they call! She was not accommodating or friendly and only let us keep our stay because her manager said to. So thanks to the manager for honoring the reservation. The rooms are very outdated for Hyatt and very noisy as well.
Not a bad hotel overall. Good breakfast, nice and quiet, but definitely overpriced. Paying $15 just for parking was a bit surprising!
I stayed one night going and one night coming back from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Aaron helped me book the second night when I found out I'd booked the wrong hotel on return. Wonderful! My second stay, after packing I realized I'd locked myself out, a young lady got me another key expeditiously. Everything was a fantasy stay! Everything!!!
