This modern Courtyard offers stunning mountain views and a convenient base for skiing, though recent guests report significant inconsistencies with room condition, construction quality, and operational efficiency.
This review is going to be a mixed bag but we deliver feedback wholistically here. This property is lovely. Their local staff, is also lovely. The dip in rating is for Marriott Corporate so hoping you can hold your leadership and reservation system accountable, here. We have stayed at this property a handful of times and its our homebase in Salt Lake. Until now. I have called 3 times, and you just get sent to the main Marriott reservation line. I was booking a room for a first responder, and that agent told me that had a FR rate for our week of $142/night. When I called back with firmed up dates, suddenly the new agent Jolene, could only find $194. So I called the front desk. That sweet baby angel told me there is in fact no First Responder Discount. I was making two bookings. One for a full price week, and one for a 4 day First Responder. They lost both bookings because of the jokers on the reservation line. Its a combination of bot and D-team reservation agents over there. I had also transferred bonvoy points to be able to use and now...won't. Its unfortunate when large corps try to save by having Customer Engagement Centers with poorly trained, ill-communicating, and flat out incompetent teams. Give me a good old fashioned front desk person any day of the week. Someone who knows their property and can do what's right for the guest, within reason. If you're staying, I hope you get an accurate rate, accurate inventory, and have a good stay. We're breaking up with Marriott.
Unfortunately the reviews about the rooms checked out. They’re new, look nice, but the details show the build quality is a little on the poorer side. The walls are thin, the shower door gets the place wet and the shower head itself is terrible. You’ll see what I mean - it hurts to stand in. But the service was friendly enough and the location is great. The hot-tub and pool close extra early (10pm) due to sound bouncing around and echoing for the other rooms. This was a letdown for a winter stay. Been here a few times. Overall, if the location is attractive, then the value isn’t bad.
The barman in the hotel was sort of "hostile". I asked few olives for the beer and he said I am not giving it and if yes I am going to charge you $2.5 per olive. He said that he can prove me this is the cost and I asked him to do it and he did not come back, just charged me through someone else. This is really sad since we paid thousands to stay in and have fun and the feeling is bad due to few olives.. Not going to get back here.
It was nice stay. Clean rooms and the location is great. However, the girl at the front desk needs to work on her customer service skills. Zero sincerity and doesn't want to be there. I get it, she hates her job but just don't work there as you give off a horrible vibe.
I have stayed here plenty of times but this last visit I was surprised by the lack of attention to detail in cleaning the room. The sheets had stains and the bathroom shower still had hair in it. But again I have never experienced that with them before and I will be back.
Courtyard by Marriott Salt Lake City Cottonwood is a great hotel with beautiful mountain views and a stylish, modern design. Everything was clean and well-kept, and the place felt cozy and comfortable. It’s a smaller hotel, but it’s well organized and would work great even for groups. The area is quiet and safe — perfect for a relaxing stay or just an overnight stop. Parking costs $15, and breakfast is available for an extra fee, but we were in a hurry and just enjoyed the in-room coffee. The bathroom had nice shampoo and body wash, and the mountain view was absolutely stunning!
We had a great experience staying here. Place was clean, welcoming and in a great location. Gabriela at the front desk was really nice and helpful. Check in was quick and they are pet friendly. We will come back!
We had a wonderful stay at Courtyard Salt Lake City Cottonwood. The rooms were spotless, modern, and very comfortable. The location is perfect—close to the mountains, downtown, and lots of great dining options in the area. The Porcupine (our favourite) and 8 Settlers restaurants were recommended by hotel staff, and did not disappoint! The pool area was relaxing and well-maintained. Breakfast was excellent, with a good variety of options and the made to order items were a nice bonus. Saturn at the breakfast bar —was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations with its clean facilities, great amenities, and especially its amazing staff. I’ll definitely be staying here again when I’m in Salt Lake City.
3 stars because they don't know how to handle prepaid bookings. They reversed the prepaid charges and charged the cards they scanned at time of check in, even after confirming rooms had been paid for. They did it to 4 separate guests on different days. This despite their voicemail advertising "for all your business needs" Otherwise a nice place. You get some partiers at the pool and that noise drifts up but generally pretty quiet. Good hot water for showers, hot enough to still feel it if you need to sit down and shake off the hangover.
Amazing location, amazing staff and great rooms. The hotel is clearly pretty new and it's in an amazing location at the base of Cottonwood Canyon with easy access to the mountains and the city. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. There are some really good nearby spots for dinner (Eight Settlers) and coffee/breakfast (Alpha Cafe).
